BiographyAlbert H. Robinson was born in Hamilton, Ontario 1881, studying in Hamilton and later attending the Academie Julian and the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He taught at the Hamilton Art School before moving to Montreal about 1909. He was elected R.C.A. in 1920 and was a member of the Canadian Group of Painters, 1933. Although the first exhibition of the Group of Seven did not take place until 1920, significant relationships and interests were fostered as early as 1907 with Robinson. Robinson was a member of this group of protangonists, working with Macdonald, Thompson, Harris and Jackson. His move in 1909 to Montreal formed an association with Quebec artists Suzor-Cote, Cullen and Morrice and allowed him to work on the Quebec landscape which later came the focus of his oeuvre.Person TypeIndividual
