Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun was born in 1957 in Kamloops, British Columbia, a town located in the interior of the province. He studied painting at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design, graduating in 1984. His work reflects current Native concerns regarding the environment, land claims and the efforts being made toward self-government. Yuxweluptun's work is recognized internationally, with exhibitions throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.
